At The Purpose Workshop, we believe meaningful conversations often begin with shared experiences. Sometimes those experiences come through stories. Sometimes they come through community. And sometimes they come through art.
On Friday, September 4, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., we're excited to welcome guests to a special Purpose After Hours event featuring Kim Rayburn's Grace Series, a moving collection of artwork that explores resilience, transformation, and the strength found in life's most pivotal moments.
Held at The Purpose Workshop, 2007 Broadway Blvd., this exhibition coincides with First Friday in Kansas City's Crossroads Arts District, making it the perfect opportunity to begin an evening of art, inspiration, and connection in one of the city's most vibrant creative communities.

Meet the Artist: Kim Rayburn
For more than three decades, Kim Rayburn has used art as a way to explore the human experience and our connection to one another. A graduate of the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, Kim also pursued an independent study in Art Therapy, deepening her understanding of how creativity can help people process emotions, challenges, and personal growth.
In addition to being an accomplished artist, Kim is also a practicing nurse. Her unique perspective, shaped by both the worlds of healthcare and art, brings remarkable depth and empathy to her work.
Through her professional and personal experiences, Kim has witnessed firsthand the strength people draw upon during life's most challenging and transformative moments. Those observations became the foundation for one of her most meaningful collections: the Grace Series.
The Story Behind the Grace Series
The Grace Series emerged from conversations with women navigating some of life's most profound seasons and transitions.
Over the years, Kim listened as women shared stories of adversity, loss, illness, grief, reinvention, healing, and triumph. While every journey was unique, she recognized a common thread running through them all: an extraordinary ability to rise, adapt, and move forward with courage.
Some were rebuilding after difficult circumstances. Others were discovering new purpose after significant life changes. Many were learning to embrace vulnerability and strength simultaneously.
The resilience and transformation Kim witnessed became a source of inspiration.
The Grace Series is her artistic tribute to these experiences, honoring the beauty, determination, and grace she discovered in the women around her and within herself.
Exploring the Meaning of Grace
Grace can mean many things.
It may be the compassion we extend to ourselves during difficult seasons. It may be the support we receive from our families, friends, and communities. It may be the courage to move forward when the path ahead feels uncertain.
At its heart, grace is both a gift and a practice.
Kim describes grace as something we all need, something we all give, and something we all deserve to receive. Through each piece in the collection, viewers are invited to reflect on their own experiences and recognize the moments of strength, healing, and transformation that have shaped their lives.
